Well, it’s that time of year again. Candy canes, snowflakes, gingerbread cookies, and hot cocoa. As adults, we tend to forget the feeling of Christmas as we are wrapped up in the stress of shopping for friends and family, trying to get things done at work before we begin our long weekend. Women, we’re worried about the cooking and the cleaning, finding Christmas outfits for our children. Officially, adults have taken the fun out of Christmas! Think back to when you were a kid, patiently awaiting the school bell to ring to start your Christmas break. Searching throughout your house to find the gifts your parents had wrapped up and hidden, in hopes to shake the boxes and guess the contents of the concealed treasure. Who can forget the endless Christmas specials…Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Land of the Misfit Toys, or Frosty the Snowman? If you were lucky enough to have the mother who was baking or cooking something to bring to your family get together, you might remember the smell filling your home, and begging to lick the spoon, and not even knowing what calories were yet. How excited were you on Christmas Eve, planting cookies and milk near the fireplace, and hoping that Santa liked chocolate chip. Oh, how can you forget that feeling of anticipation and restlessness, knowing that waking up meant finding out what Santa had left under the tree for you? Sure, we can’t turn back time and we certainly can’t start believing in a fictional character all over again, but we certainly can trade the stress in for some holiday spirit! Build a snowman, drive around town to look at the Christmas lights, pop in a Christmas movie and snuggle up with your loved ones, some eggnog, and some gingerbread cookies. However you do it, be safe, and have a happy holiday! Come Monday, everything will be back to normal, so enjoy it while you can. It only comes once a year! “Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” ~Calvin Coolidge Are you in the right state of mind? Happy Holidays from the staff at Paragon Media One!
